PEARSKIN & PINEAPPLE, WAXY ALMOND, ZESTY & CRISP San Gimingano, one of a whopping TWO white wine specialist regions in Italy also famous for towers, is practically the sole provenance of the sternly refreshing Vernaccia grape. Restrained in character and revered for its elegance, the variety is represented well by this lovely outing from Cesani. Light on its feet with firm acidity and a touch of floral perfume weaving its way through the understated citrus, this is a great (albeit somewhat modern) example of a style and variety with rich history. Serving Suggestion: Baked squid w/ cannelini beans, spinach, olive oil, & lemon. Tangy farfalle salad w/ parmesan, white wine vinegar, basil, & olives.
