Forlorn Hope, "Queen of the Sierra" White Blend, Calaveras County, California 2020
{organic} Chardonnay, Verdelho, Muscat

TROPICAL FRUIT, ORANGE ZEST, LUSH & TEXTURED
Forlorn Hope comes from a mistranslation of the Dutch
verloren hoop (“lost troop”), referring to a group of soldiers volunteering to charge directly into enemy defenses with little hope of success. Winemaker Matthew Rorick, a fan of lost causes and outsiders, loves working with less-common California grapes. This unusual white blend is rich and ripe with notes of pineapple, peach, lime, almond, a hint of honey, and balancing acidity.
Serving Suggestions: Lump crab cakes w/ avocado & mango relish. Baked macadamia-crusted mahi mahi. Coconut rice & beans. Creamy garlic shrimp toasts. Seared ahi tuna w/ sweet potato tempura.
