Château Grand Portail, Entre-Deux-Mers Haut-Benauge, Bordeaux, France 2021 {sustainable} 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sauvignon Gris, 10% Sémillon LIME ZEST, VERY AROMATIC, ZIPPY, LIVELY MINERALITY From the small enclave of Haut-Benauge, Grand-Portail overlooks the Garonne River. The young Olivier Cailleux represents the sixth generation of his family to sustainably till the clay and limestone soils here – soils much like those of Sancerre. Perhaps that helps explain why this Sauvignon-based white has such a tantalizingly juicy acidity, gripping the sides of your mouth with a lime-ish zip, and a finish lasts for minutes. Serving Suggestion: Salade Niçoise w/ rare tuna, haricots verts, tomato, olives, & anchovies over greens. Mildly spicy Tom Yum soup w/ tofu, chicken, or shrimp. Asparagus salad w/ lemon, basil, & mint.
