Domaine La Ligière, Gigondas "Les Bergines", Rhone Valley, France 2023 {biodynamic} 70% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre
PEPPERY BLACKBERRY, LAVENDER & VIOLETS, DENSE BERRY Gigondas has a well-earned reputation for yielding what are often the Southern Rhone’s firmest, most structured reds, and while this wine’s urgent aromas of roasted cacao nibs, baking spices, and tobacco indicate that this example might be a bit of a beast, it has a definitively delicate side as well. Employing biodynamic practices on a small plot of land, Philippe and Elizabeth Bernard craft this profoundly expressive Grenache and Mourvèdre blend which is fermented exclusively with native yeasts and aged in concrete. Get jiggy with Gigondas. Serving Suggestion:Savory Peruvian drumsticks & plantain w/ cinnamon, clove, & star anise. Roasted red pepper stuffed w/ cantal, pimento, & garlic.
