Azienda Agricola Morella, Primitivo, Salento, Puglia, Italy 2020 {biodynamic} 100% Primitivo BRAMBLY BLACK RASPBERRY & CHERRY PRESERVES, MELON & PEPPER Australian native Lisa Gilbee settled in Italy just over two decades ago. After working as a winemaker both at home and abroad, she began Morella in 2004, naming it after her Italian husband. She’s fallen in love with this Puglian grape and her vineyards, consisting of low-yielding vines close to the Ionian Sea, produce a wine that’s balanced, yet intensely concentrated, with dried, berry-ish fruit and peppery spice. Serving Suggestions: Wood-fired pizza w/ ricotta, spicy sausage, & basil, or w/ fried eggplant & Calabrian chilis. Pasta puttanesca. Veal marsala.
