Domaine Saint-Anne, Côtes du Rhone Villages, Southern Rhône, France 2021 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah CURRANT & PLUM, WHITE PEPPER, RED RASPBERRY PRESERVES A fabulous yet lesser-known corner of the Côtes-du-Rhone Villages, Saint-Gervais lies northwest of Tavel and Lirac, at roughly the same latitude as Gigondas. Guy Steinmaier, born in Burgundy, set up shop here around 1960, and this offering showcases a more traditional, Grenache-heavy Rhône blend in contrast to his more usual, more iconoclastic style. Concentrated red fruit, spice, mineral, and elegant earthy notes are found in this lively treat. Serving Suggestion: Moroccan lamb tagine w/ prunes & cinnamon. Black bean curry w/ diced bell peppers, tomato purée, coconut, ginger, coriander, & cumin.
