BLACK PLUM & MISSION FIG, WALNUT & CEDAR, DISTINCTIVE SAVORY STREAK Slovenia’s Brda, just across the border from and contiguous with Italy’s Friuli, shares many of the latter’s specialties including a special proclivity for a handful of French native varieties. The famous trio of Bordeaux does tremendous work here, and this combination of Merlot and the two Cabernets is simultaneously reminiscent of their Southwestern French homeland and resolutely its own creature. Oily garnet in the glass, its intensely striking appearance is just the prelude… Serving Suggestion: Grilled steak w/ bourbon & mushroom sauce. Buckwheat noodles w/ potatoes, mushrooms, sage, & fontina.
