Hans Czerny’s family has been growing food and making wine in the same house in this small village of Fels am Wagram, in Austria’s Wagram winemaking region, since the 1700’s. Today, the estate operates biodynamically, and their “Hefeabstich” is a refreshingly natural example of Gruner Veltiner. Aged on the lees, it’s unfiltered and lush, full of bright, tangy fruit flavors, yet dry, with a tantalizing hint of fizziness.
