FIRM & FRESH, MINERALLY GUSTO, AMPLE ACIDITY, ELEGANT South Tyrol, aka Alto Adige, lies within Italy at the foot of the Alps, but most of its population speak German, explaining why so many of the grapes grown here are also specialties of Alsace, like Pinot Grigio/Gris/Ruländer. While the variety often brings to mind bland whites, it actually lends itself to richness and structure. This one provides both approachability and substance, with crisp apple and pear flavors.
