Chateau Malvat, Fronsac, Bordeaux, France, 2016 {sustainable} 100% Merlot SUPPLE TEXTURE, PERFUMY. PEPPER, LEATHER, & BLACK CHERRY The vineyards here in Fronsac, a satellite appellation of Bordeaux, were first established by the Romans who chose this spot on the right bank of the Dordogne for strategic reasons. These Merlots weren’t always such a steal— in fact, from the mid-18th Century until the phylloxera crisis they were commanding higher prices than those from Pomerol and St.-Émilion. So much power, personality, and elegance from a region that’s arguably better known for value! Serving Suggestions: Grilled beef kebabs w/ sweet peppers & onions.
