RIPE BERRY, FRESH & CHEERFUL, ZESTY SPICE Carnuntum, home to a plethora of Ancient Roman ruins, lies just southeast of Vienna and continues to attract attention for its lively reds. Franz Netzl walked us through his vineyards to show off his high-quality Zweigelt vines, which is the region’s most important grape. This rosé rendition is named for his daughter, Anna Marie, and showcases the bright, berry-ish characteristics of Zweigelt, along with fleshy ripeness and spice. Serving Suggestion: Smoked trout dip w/ pepper crackers, & spinach salad w/ spicy pecans, bacon bits & mushrooms. Crostini w/ olive tapenade, roasted red pepper hummus, goat cheese, or bruschetta.
