LOGANBERRY & LEATHER, HERBES DE PROVENCE Hailing from Daniel Couston’s estate in the lower reaches of the Rhone’s Drôme department, this wine deals in gloriously Northern Rhone-esque character as well as the berryish bravado of the south. Old vines offer up Inky fruit, spice (garrigue, appropriately enough!), a network of earthy intrigue, and leathery syrah-centric gorgeosity. Beautifully between worlds, this gem ties the Northern Rhone and Southern Rhone together deliciously. Serving Suggestions:Venison terrine w/ scalloped potatoes & onion. Tunisian beef stew w/ sweet potato, olive oil, black pepper & paprika.
